story behind the FIlm

What started as just 3 guys (Jon Zomer, Jager Doorn, and Newton Kingsbury) getting together in the garage on an early March night in the midwest. Turned into this idea of making a film that could be felt more from your average Joe. We all have seen films that showcase these exotic, or iconic classic cars, and how sought after they are, and cherished. yet sometimes kept away and preserved. Though we have respect for maintaining some of these historic automotive pieces. We felt as though there was another story that could be told that resonates with many other car enthusiasts. The three of them all had some sort of modest vintage european sportcars, and intended to take said cars on a Michigan based rally that coming fall. Each of them knew there was going to be some preparation to journeying 1000 kilometers throughout the state, but each of them set their own goals for what the rally would really mean for them. The several month sprint to get these cars ready to make the voyage begins. 

The rally in question is the Round Headlamp Rally 1000. Which is a Michigan rally that focuses on the vintage cars of yesterday. 

This rally raises the challenge to vintage car owners to fix up that old car, take it out of the garage. Get it dirty for once and just drive. With a slogan like “Drive More, Wax Less” (The key inspiration for the films title) They wanted to show the raw and true feeling of vintage car ownership. With this rally being the catalyst for Jon, Jager, and Newton to get creative and have a bonding adventure for the three of them (and co-drivers) with their cars.

To see the evolution of each car and driver/co-driver has been eye opening and inspiring of its own. (enough to persuade the director to buy his own MGB, and dive into vintage car ownership)
